Brown Slop

November 20th, 2009 by Lane

The surf has been pretty junk lately. The pros came and brought the junk waves with them. The Bay opened up big time and the river has been running full force making for some pretty dirty brown mercy water too which does not make the junky, choppy waves any more alluring. A lot of little windy north swells have been the rule lately, but the pros are rippin it up and making it look good anyways. They all kind of showed up in one day. The locals were talking about how quiet it was and BOOM suddenly there were 30 lenses on the beach at Ehukai that afternoon, but it is still a lot slower than normal this time of year. The Reef Hawaiian Pro at Haleiwa is still underway but Hawaii’s own Alana Blanchard (Kauai) defeated reigning world champion Stephanie Gilmore (Australia) to take the women's portion of the event. Next up for the girls will be the Gidget Pro at Sunset. They are a new sponsor to the ASP tour and it should be a great event to celebrating 35 years of women's surfing out there. Buttons released Buttons Brew a few days at Teds Bakery, it is a new brand of coffee with a very cool label.
Looks like next week will be a nice change in size and surf conditions! Get ready cause here we go!!!!!!
