Local boy Joel Centeio accompanies Alana Blanchard in the winners seat to lead the Vans Triple Crown! I heard the waves weren't very good today at Haleiwa and that they even had to start some heats over, but they came through and produced a winner. This swell was pretty weird all over except Sunset which was looking pretty good last night. Of course with all the pros in town they can make anything look good so don't be deceived. Conditions were off and on throughout the swell and the sand is pretty much piled up again at Pipe. I was the only one out with 3 boogies this morning so that is saying a lot when the whole world is in town. Saying that it was bad that is. It was kinda one of those too north for Pipe and too west for Lanis types swells. Today it was on a slow decline and holding tomorrow before another bigger swell hits on Wednesday just in time to kick off the next leg of the Triple Crown at Sunset Beach. Town has not let up either keeping some 1-3 foot waves in the mix. I went to the Kamehameha school Surfers Give Back Sample Sale this past Saturday and it was happening. They had killer deals from most of the main labels and some great entertainment including local bands, Hula and Fire Dancing. Kamehameha school and vendors donate a good portion of the proceeds to charity. It will be their first year to have a surf team and club competing and they need support so get in the mix! Plenty swells on the way!
